BLU® 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel

Standard external door hardware is often made of brass or low-grade steel, which tarnishes and corrodes quickly when exposed to weather, coastal air, or acid-heavy woods like Oak or Accoya.

Coastal's flagship **BLU®** range is manufactured from solid 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel. It is engineered to withstand extreme salinity and environmental exposure, ensuring your door handles look pristine and perform smoothly for decades.

316

Marine Grade Steel

Significantly higher nickel and molybdenum content to resist pitting corrosion.

PVD

Physical Vapor Deposition Finish

Micro-thin hard layer protects brass and black colors against scratching and weathering.

Performance for Life™ Guarantee

Because BLU® is built to an uncompromising standard, Coastal provides an industry-leading lifetime guarantee. If your Marine Grade 316 hardware fails to perform, it will be replaced—providing complete confidence.

Care Guidelines

Care & Maintenance Guide

Although marine-grade stainless steel is incredibly durable, regular maintenance ensures it remains pristine and functions smoothly. As the name suggests, it is "stain-less", not "stain-free".

What is Tea Staining?

Tea staining is a cosmetic surface discolouration caused by salt or air contaminants sitting on the surface. It is **not rust** and does not affect the structural integrity or lifetime of the metal. It can be easily cleaned.

Step-by-Step Maintenance

1

Cleaning Frequency

Clean your door hardware immediately after fitting, and at least every **6 months** under normal conditions. For properties located in coastal or highly industrial environments, clean **bi-monthly** to prevent salt buildup.

2

Coastal Group DR121 Renovation Kit

We recommend Coastal's **DR121 Kit**. Use the **DR121-CL Cleaner** to lift tarnish, contamination, and surface dirt, then apply **DR121-CO Conditioner** to seal and protect the finish.

!

What to Avoid (Warning)

Do **NOT** use bleach, abrasive powder cleaners, caustic/acid-based liquids, or detergents containing chlorides. Avoid scouring pads, steel wool, or metal objects that can scratch the finish.
